GEN Australia is leading the formation of a new peak body!
The Australian Eco-livng Organisations Network (AEON) aims to represent ecovillages, intentional communities, landsharing communities and co-housing. This body will serve as the unifying voice for community-led, sustainable housing and living models across the country.
We are currently in process of developing the constitution and working with stakeholders.
A well-constituted peak body will enable AEON to:
Represent communities politically: providing a national voice to engage with government on housing, planning reform, land-sharing rights, and climate adaptation policy.
Advance environmental goals: supporting low-carbon, regenerative settlement models, and contributing to Australia’s transition to sustainable living.
Strengthen communities: promoting affordable housing alternatives, cooperative ownership, and social cohesion in a time of housing crisis and rising isolation.
Engage industry and research: partnering with developers, academics, and policymakers to pilot and scale new models of sustainable housing.
